CLEARWATER, Fla. – February 21, 2012 -- Avantair, Inc. (OTCBB: AAIR), the industry leader of fractional aircraft ownership in the light jet cabin category and the only publicly traded stand-alone private aircraft operator, today announced it will provide all flight crews with state of the art Apple iPad 2 Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) by the end of the second quarter. Avantair will join a growing number of cutting edge operators who have recently received the FAA's approval for use of these devices on all aircraft.
Avantair tested the EFBs for more than six months prior to receiving final approval to completely change over to the new technology. Use of the iPads allows pilots to eliminate cumbersome paper charts, manuals and maps and replace them with the technologically enhanced tablet. “The iPad EFB is a real step forward for safety and efficiency,” said Avantair Chief Executive Officer Steven Santo. “Updating charts and procedures will now all be done electronically, saving time and insuring that flight crews always have the latest and most up to date information.
In addition," Santo continued, "Avantair – already the greenest fractional operator in the industry – just got greener by going paperless in the cockpit."
