With three lifting surfaces instead of two, the P.180 was designed with safety in mind. The forward wing and high wing loading increase the stability of the aircraft, helping to reduce pilot workload. The unique forward wing acts as a turbulence cushion delivering a smoother ride and it is the only aircraft in its class with an anti-ice system, preventing ice from forming on the wings.
